How do these disappearing images breathe into their surroundings, and how do their surroundings, in turn, breathe into them? I was particularly interested in where and under what conditions these blue photographs and objects could be found—images that are primarily encountered in cities, where layers of history and pre-history, social and political transformations, and erasures intersect. Long walks, extended periods of observation, and eventual returns after months or even years have become integral to this ongoing project. The documentation has taken on an almost encyclopedic form—one that, by definition, can never truly be complete.
